Real estate agents sold 2.65% more single-family homes this November than in the same month last year, according to statistics from Maine Listings.
The industry organization, which is a subsidiary of the Maine Association of Realtors, said that the median sales price of homes for November also rose 1.6%, to $175,000, for the month. The latest figures indicate real estate agents sold 1,086 single-family homes this November compared with 1,058 homes last year.
Bart Stevens, president of the Realtor group, said in a press release that unit sales tend to decrease through the end of the year but that the median sales growth reflects a housing market that is stabilizing after the recession.
After logging double-digit percentage growth in sales volume during the summer months, Stevens told Mainebiz in November that he expects real estate activity to remain stable through 2015.
Nationally, single-family home sales volume dipped 0.9% in November while median sales prices increased 9.4% to $196,200, according to the National Association of Realtors.
