Hurricane halts Amtrak, air travel

Expecting harsh weather from Hurricane Sandy, air and train travel has been curtailed across the Northeast.

The Associated Press reported that Amtrak has cancelled all service north of New York starting Monday and has not yet determined when service will continue.

WCSH6 reported that airline representatives are expecting cancellations today and tomorrow in response to the hurricane, which the National Weather Service expects could bring to Maine wind gusts of up to 60 mph and possible flooding.

Central Maine Power also has reported calling in extra crews today from New Brunswick, Canada, to deal with expected power outages.

As of this morning, the National Weather Service's high wind warning will be in effect until 8 a.m. Tuesday.
