Husson pharm accreditation moves ahead

Husson University's Doctor of Pharmacy program yesterday received candidate status from the National Accreditation Council on Pharmacy Education.

Rod Larson, dean of Husson's School of Pharmacy, says candidate status represents a first step for the program that he hopes will lead to final approval by ACPE, according to a press release from the university. The program's candidate status means it is in the developmental stage and has not had a graduating class, but is expected to achieve full accreditation. The first class is scheduled to graduate in 2013.

Applications for the program have increased from 155 to 645 over the past year, and the second class of 65 students is scheduled to arrive on campus this fall, according to the release.
