Idexx ups Westbrook investment

Idexx Laboratories Inc. in Westbrook says it will invest more than $168 million in its Westbrook facility over the next two decades as its growth comes at a faster clip than it expected.
This investment projection is a 31% increase over the $128 million estimate Idexx made in 2006 when the company signed a tax increment financing pact with Westbrook, the Portland Press Herald reported.
The company, which develops diagnostic instrument systems for veterinary care, says it has created 600 new jobs since 2006, for a total workforce of 1,600 people, the paper said.
