Idexx's income grows in 2009

Idexx Laboratories saw its net income increase by about $6 million in 2009, according to year-end financial reports released Friday.

The Westbrook-based pet health care company reported a 2009 net income of $122.2 million, compared with a 2008 net income of $116.2 million. The company also reported a 1% increase in revenues, from $1.024 billion in 2008 to $1.032 billion in 2009. Revenues for the fourth quarter of 2009 increased 11% over the same quarter in 2008 to $270.3 million. Chairman and CEO Jonathan Ayers attributed the company's growth to the success of its companion animal product sales and a growing Asia market.
