Imagine Portland recognizes quartet of Maine businesses

Ann Fisher/Mainebiz Volunteer of the Year, Tony Payne, senior VP of external affairs at MEMIC, was honored for his dedicated advocacy of the Portland business community.

Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce’s annual Imagine Portland event was held June 15 at Aura, where attendees enjoyed a night sponsored in part by Mainebiz to celebrate community and connect with friends.

Award Winners

  • Champion Award, MaineWorks, for its dedication to workforce development by providing dignified employment opportunities for people in recovery and reentry. Owned by Margo Walsh, MaineWorks is No. 3 in Mainebiz Book of Lists of the largest women-owned businesses in Maine, as ranked number of Maine employees.
  • Catalyst Award, Rock Row for its investment of time and resources to stimulate economic development in Westbrook and beyond.
  • Collaborator Award, Machias Savings Bank and Luke’s Lobster for their partnership in preserving one of Maine’s iconic heritage industries, lobstering, while building job skills and training opportunities for future generations. Machias Savings is ranked No. 7 in the Mainebiz Book of Lists of the banks with the largest market share in the state, based on Maine deposits as of June 2022. 
  • Volunteer of the Year, Tony Payne, senior VP of external affairs at MEMIC, for his dedicated advocacy of the Portland business community and key policy priorities that lead to broadly-shared and sustainable growth for all
