Breeze Airways, a domestic low-fare carrier that began flying in 2021, is adding another destination from the Portland International jetport, this time to Orlando, Fla.
The new nonstop will begin on Sept. 6, with service on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with introductory one-way fares starting at $99 if purchased by Tuesday, June 20, and BreezeThru service on Thursdays and Sundays starting Sept. 21. BreezeThru is one-stop, direct service on routes where the plane is continuing to anyway.
"Today's news that Breeze Airways is adding winter service to Orlando is brilliant!" said Paul Bradbury, the Jetport's airport director. "We've heard great things from our customers about the Breeze experience and now customers will be able to fly to Orlando, our most popular winter destination, with seriously nice service," he continued.
Breeze offers passengers bundled and ala carte options labeled as Nice, Nicer and Nicest. The Nicest bundle includes Breeze Ascent, two checked bags, and complimentary snacks and beverages, including alcohol. The carrier began flying in May 2021.
Today, the airline flies both short-distance and transcontinental U.S. flights on a fleet of Embraer 190/195 and Airbus A220-300 aircraft. It has also ordered 80 A220s, with options for 40 more.
From Portland, Breeze also serves Charleston, S.C.; Islip-Long Island, N.Y.; Norfolk, Va..; Pittsburgh and Tampa. The new Pittsburgh and Norfolk routes were announced last week.
“We have seen amazing demand out of Portland as we continue to expand and grow in Maine,” said Tom Doxey, president of Breeze Airways. “This new route to Orlando will offer all of our guests in Maine a great, family-friendly vacation destination. We hope guests are enjoying our affordability, convenience, and upgraded onboard experience as a Nice Low Cost Carrier.”
