New hires

Camden National Bank hired James Adsit as senior vice president and director of commercial banking for the Bangor and Downeast regions, Blaine Jones as retail regional manager in the Downeast region, David Peterson as senior vice president, commercial banking officer in Manchester, N.H., and Carl Marsh as assistant vice president and financial consultant at Camden Financial Consultants. Adsit most recently was senior vice president, health care group, and New England team leader for the First Niagara Bank NA. Jones was regional market manager for Bangor Savings Bank. Peterson was vice president and commercial relationship manager for Northway Bank in New Hampshire. Marsh was associate wealth manager at TRSS Wealth Management.

Maine Medical Partners-MaineHealth Cardiology in Rockport hired Rodney Mayhorn and Maine Medical Partners – Hospital Medicine in Portland hired Katherine Liu. Mayhorn, who specializes in noninvasive cardiology including nuclear imaging and echocardiography, was with Heart First Cardiology in Waterville while Liu is a hospitalist with clinical interests in pediatric global emergency medicine, safe hospital transitions and ultrasound.

Spinnaker Trust, a Maine bank chartered non-depository trust company in Portland, hired Chris Whitney as client advisor in its Employee Stock Ownership Plan practice and Laura Greenstein as an assistant portfolio manager in portfolio management services. Whitney was a retirement planning consultant for Transamerica while Greenstein was a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch.

The Maine Region of the American Red Cross hired Mary Green as community manager in Caribou. Green has 17 years of nonprofit work experience.

Broadreach Public Relations, a strategic communications and business-consulting firm in Portland, hired Julia Sivakoff as a public relations apprentice.

TRC, an engineering, environmental consulting and construction management firm in Augusta, hired Christina Bendtson as a human resources business partner representing all of its Power employees. Bendtson was previously a human resources business partner at Camden National Bank.

The Maine Credit Union League and Synergent boards hired Todd Mason as president and CEO. Mason, who is currently chief strategy officer for RouteOne, an indirect automotive lending technology company in Farmington, Mich., will replace John Murphy, who served as president/CEO for the organization for the past 25 years.

Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce hired Rebecca Swanson Conrad as president and CEO. Conrad is currently vice president for institutional advancement at Maine College of Art in Portland and will begin in her new role on March 27.

First National Bank in Damariscotta hired Leah Nickerson as branch manager in Waldoboro and Ginger Shubert as branch manager in Bar Harbor.

Bangor Area Staffing Solutions hired Carolyn Hayden to assist with its administrative, applicant pre-qualifying and marketing duties.

OUT Maine, a rural LGBTQ youth support organization in Rockland, hired Lane Sturtevant as youth coordinator.

Clark Insurance in Portland hired Kelly Michaud as an account manager in its business insurance department.

Alliance Realty in Westbrook hired Andrew Griffin, Realtor, and Tyra Hatcher-Mitchell, associate broker, as agents.

Maine Association of Nonprofits in Portland hired Jennifer Burns Gray as director of advocacy and public relations. Gray brings more than 20 years of public policy experience to the position having formerly served as Maine Audubon’s former staff attorney and advocate.

The Maine Department of Education hired Rachel Paling as director of communications. Paling was previously communications manager at the University of Maine at Augusta.

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, hired Michael Thompson as senior project scientist and Rebecca Twiss as marketing specialist.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, hired Lindsay Leone as an attorney in the firm’s energy practice group. Leone is a transactional attorney with expertise in business and finance.

Knox County Homeless Coalition in Rockport hired Becca Gildred as director of development and Jen Cabot, a licensed social worker, as a part-time case manager.

SaviLinx LLC, a contact center in Brunswick specializing in business process outsourcing and technical support services, hired Bill Frattini as human resources manager and Amy Bergeron as human resources recruiter.

Hurricane Island Outward Bound School, an adventure-based educational organization in Camden, hired Kathleen Gilbert as marketing director. Gilbert previously founded KMG Marketing Services.

Harriman, a design and engineering firm in Portland, hired Kartik Shah as a senior urban designer in its Boston location. Kartik has 15 years of experience in managing and leading urban design and planning projects.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland hired Caroline Grimm as director of finance. Grimm is the owner of Lake Region Accounting Solutions in Bridgton.

James D. Julia, an antique auction house in Fairfield, hired Scott Wentzell as director of marketing. Wentzell was most recently marketing director with Thos. Moser Handmade American Furniture in Auburn.

Androscoggin Bank in Lewiston hired Jim Kacer as a senior vice president and CFO. Kacer was previously CFO at Count and Crush LLC (dba CLYNK) in South Portland.

Sea Bags, a designer and manufacturer of handmade items made from recycled sails in Portland, hired Bill McGonagle as CFO, Mike Davis as operations manager and Tara Knupp as product line manager.

Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital hired Robert Slattery to lead the hospital’s operations and business development efforts. Slattery, who has over two decades of experience with national and regional payers as well as leading patient-centered integrated delivery systems, previously led Integrated Solutions Health Network.

Maine Development Foundation in Augusta hired Jan Kearce as vice president for program impact. Kearce was most recently executive director of Lift360.

Promotions

First National Bank in Damariscotta promoted Sherry Smith to loan operations manager. Smith was previously mortgage loan officer.

Alliance Realty in Westbrook promoted Billy Noone to president. Noone has 30 years of experience in the new construction and real estate fields.

Knox County Homeless Coalition in Rockport promoted Erin Olton to case management coordinator. Olton, who has 10 years of experience in social work, was previously a case manager.

TRC, an engineering, environmental consulting and construction management firm in Augusta, promoted Elisabeth St. Pierre to senior transmission engineer. St. Pierre was previously transmission engineer.

Day One, a nonprofit in South Portland dedicated to addressing youth substance use and mental health concerns, promoted Caroline Raymond to CEO. Raymond previously served as interim executive director.

Clark Insurance in Portland promoted Deborah Wentworth to vice president of business and employee benefits services, Diana Miville to director of human resources and training, Tricia Spencer to business insurance department coordinator and Sandy Trottier to coordinator of administrative support and facilities.

Bath Savings Institution promoted Paul Cole to information technology officer, Michelle Dickinson to human resources officer, Wendy Gilliam to accounting officer and Ally Harper to marketing officer. In addition, Melissa Libby was promoted to assistant vice president and Emmie Carrigan to customer service representative at its Yarmouth branch.

Katahdin Trust in Houlton promoted Kate Goodwin to project manager and Sarah Silliboy to BSA officer. Goodwin was previously BSA officer and Silliboy was assistant vice president, electronic banking manager.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, promoted Marie Whitney to registration coordinator, Stephanie Gildart to marketing manager and Marjorie Ferris to sales manager. Whitney most recently served as registration representative, Gildart was marketing coordinator and Ferris was a sales representative.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution announced several promotions. Betty McGovern was promoted to assistant vice president, John Mondor to marketing officer, Heather Clark to vice president and marketing manager, DeAnn Lewis to vice president, Julie LoPresti to senior digital banking specialist and ACH coordinator, Shawn Walton to assistant vice president, Tony LeBlanc to compliance manager and Francine Anton, Jeff St. Laurent and Patrick DeCourcey to vice president. McGovern was previously assistant branch manager in Westbrook, Mondor was graphic design coordinator, Clark was an assistant vice president and marketing officer, Lewis was general bank auditor, LoPresti was a remote services specialist, Walton was assistant branch manager in Saco, LeBlanc was vice president and bank secrecy officer and Francine Anton, Jeff St. Laurent and Patrick DeCourcey were loan officers.

SymQuest Group Inc., an IT services and office technology provider in Westbrook, promoted Meg Fleming to president. Fleming previously served in various positions within the company including: COO, client support manager, service manager, director of service and regional director of sales.

Hammond Lumber Co. in Belgrade promoted Mike Hammond to president and CEO. Hammond, a vice president for the past 20 years, succeeds his father, Don Hammond.

Lambert Coffin, a law firm in Portland, promoted Jeffrey Russell, Maureen Sturtevant and Abigail Varga to partners. All three were previously associates.

Appointments

Maine Municipal Association in Augusta announced that Elaine Aloes and Richard Bates were appointed to the 12-member executive committee that helps to guide the association’s priorities and operations. Aloes is a Solon Selectman and Bates is the Rockport town manager.

HealthInfoNet, a nonprofit in Portland that uses information technology to improve patient care quality and safety, said that David Howes, president and CEO of Martin’s Point Health Care, joined its board and will serve as board chair. In addition, Marcy Dunn, chief information officer at Maine Health, and Dimitri Michaud, director at MaineCare Finance, have also joined the board.

Portland Buy Local added Ellen Kenner of Dobra Tea and Heather Caston Talbot of Clark Insurance to its board of directors.

Kris Doody, registered nurse and CEO at Cary Medical Center in Caribou, was appointed to the American Hospital Association’s Committee on Health Care Strategy and Innovation. The committee, composed of approximately 18 health system and hospital leaders from around the country, was formed to address emerging and transformational issues facing the field and to help inform the association’s policy positions as well as identify ways the association can assist the membership with new tools, education and insights.

Achievements

Surge Hydro in Belfast received the Business Award for the “Business Model with the “Best Chance for Immediate Investment and Commercialization!” at the Global Forum Awards Ceremony held during Cleantech Week in San Francisco, Calif.

Maine State Treasurer Terry Hayes was presented with the Distinguished Maine Policy Fellow Award by the Margaret Chase Smith Policy Center and the Maine Business School at the University of Maine in Orono.

Three Maine employers were among 148 semifinalists selected from 3,064 nominations submitted by guard members and reservists for the “Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award,” the Department of Defense’s highest employer award. The Maine Medical Center in Portland is a semifinalist in the large company category, Kennebec Behavioral Health in Augusta in the small company category and the Penobscot County Sheriff Office in Bangor in the public category.

Bergen Parkinson LLC, a law firm in Kennebunk, announced that Durward Parkinson was accepted into the Maine Chapter of the National Association of Distinguished Neutrals. Junior Achievement of Maine hosted its 11th annual Titan Challenge for high school students across the state as teams of three high school students competed against each other as they attempted to manage a virtual company in a competitive marketplace. Buren1 from Van Buren District Secondary School (Hunter Searles, Eric Perreault and Taylor Soucy) was the overall winner.
