New hires

Jennifer Mirabile was named managing director of Camden National Wealth Management. Mirabile, who has worked at Key Private Bank and People’s United Bank Wealth Management, will lead a team of 19 professionals and help establish the new wealth management office in Camden. In a related move, Camden National Bank hired Patricia Rose as executive vice president of retail and mortgage banking. Most recently, Rose was the head of strategic onboarding and orientation at Citizens Bank.

Down East magazine in Camden hired Michael O’Neil as account executive for the midcoast and Downeast regions. O’Neil was previously managing director for USHarbors.com for Maine Boats Homes and Harbors.

P&C Insurance in Biddeford hired Jessica Beaulieu as an account manager for commercial lines. Previously, Beaulieu was a sales account executive for Darling’s Agency.

Casco Bay Wealth Advisors in Brunswick hired Gregory Choquette as a financial consultant.

Bath Savings Institution hired Brian Desjardins as a commercial lender. Desjardins was most recently vice president, commercial lending at Norway Savings Bank.

KPI Convert, a digital marketing firm in Portland, hired Jeff Mitchell as president. Mitchell was co-founder and president of Digital Impulse in Boston.

The Maine Marine Trades Association in Biddeford hired Stacey Keefer as executive director. Keefer was most recently a boat show manager for Maine Boats Homes & Harbors.

New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland hired Steven Trockman as director of marketing operations.

The Portland Masonic, a special events and meeting location in Portland, hired Angela Fall as general sales and event manager and Rachael Davis as event sales specialist.

Macpage LLC, an accounting firm in South Portland, hired Dominik Porobic as an International Accounting Standards associate and Joel Riemersma as a tax associate.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Yannick Nkeng as a member of its emergency department medical staff.

Baker Newman Noyes, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced several new hires. Malcolm Barfield, Erin Luce, Andrew Murry, Morena Smith and Meredith Wicks were hired in the audit practice; Darren Brown as a staff member in the risk and business advisory practice; Nick Smetana as a supervising senior in the tax practice; and Benjamin Staples, Dylan Wetmore and Sarah Wyman as staff members in the tax practice.

Central Maine Orthopaedics - Spectrum Healthcare Partners in Auburn hired Stephen Clark as an orthopaedic spine surgeon.

The Animal Welfare Society in West Kennebunk hired Nicholas Urbanek as chief veterinarian. Urbanek was previously director of shelter medicine for the Seattle Animal Shelter.

Bar Harbor Bankshares in Bar Harbor hired Joseph G. Schmitt as senior vice president and chief marketing officer. Schmitt was most recently director of product marketing for consumer and business banking at Santander Bank NA. He will relocate from the Boston area to Bar Harbor.

Pine Tree Society, an organization in Bath serving Maine children and adults with disabilities, hired Nina Lozano as direct support professional in Scarborough, Peter Halligan as facilities assistant at Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Kristy Eaton as a direct-support professional in Auburn, Jordan Castaldo as interpreting services scheduler, Connie Hartley as receptionist and administrative assistant in Bath and Chelsea Clavet as a teacher at the Early Learning Center in Auburn.

Diversified Communications, a Portland-based media company, hired Wes Doane as a sales manager, Chris Hakala as an account executive, Kelsey Rex as a conference administrative assistant and Anna Brundage as a marketing coordinator. Doane was previously with Solar Promotions International, Hakala was with Accenture, Rex was with the American Red Cross and Brundage was with Maine Media Workshops & College.

Promotions

Baker Newman Noyes, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced several promotions. Gisèle Couturier was promoted to senior manager in the audit practice; Ryan Dubois, Dylan Moulton, Justin St. John, Sonya Walker and Sarah Warner to seniors in the audit practice; Danielle Hansen, Nate Marcet and Kelly Pelletier to seniors in the tax practice; Josie Hajdysz to finance manager in the operations department; Kelly Parks to supervising senior in the tax practice; and Dianne Rodrigue to senior manager in the health care consulting practice.

Down East Enterprise Inc. in Camden promoted Lauren Chartier to marketing and events coordinator. Chartier was previously circulation assistant and production representative.

HealthInfoNet, an independent, nonprofit organization in Portland that uses information technology to improve patient care quality and safety, promoted Shaun Alfreds to acting CEO following the announcement of longtime CEO Devore Culver’s retirement at the end of October. Alfreds has served as the firm’s COO since 2010.

Bangor Savings Bank promoted Matt Watkins to mortgage development officer. Watkins, a vice president at the bank, was previously a commercial lender.

Pine Tree Society, an organization in Bath serving Maine children and adults with disabilities, promoted Chad Marshall to DSP supervisor in Scarborough. Marshall was previously a part-time case manager and part-time employment specialist.

Appointments

The board of directors for Camden National Corp. elected Lawrence Sterrs as chair of the company and Camden National Bank. Sterrs is chairman and CEO of the Unity Foundation, a public charity that provides strategic grant making and executive and board coaching to nonprofits throughout Maine.

McTeague Higbee, a law firm in Topsham, said that Karen Bilodeau, a partner at the firm, was named to the board of directors of the Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group, a national nonprofit.

SeniorsPlus, an agency on aging located in Lewiston, named Don Berry, James Handy and John Jenness Jr. to its board of directors. Berry is chair of the Oxford County Democrats and president of the Western Maine Labor Council, Handy is employed by L.L.Bean, and is a member of the Maine House of Representatives and Jenness is an attorney, photographer and owner of Sunset Hollow Gallery in Paris.

The American Heart Association appointed to the board Geoff Bruno, superintendent of Falmouth Schools; Andrew Cook, vice president at People’s United Bank; Dervilla McCann, chief of population health at Central Maine Medical Center; and Brandei Wingard, medical director for Southern Maine Health Care Cardiology. In addition, John O’Meara, cardiologist with Portland Cardiology, was selected board president and Richard Veilleux, program manager at MaineHealth, was named board chair. Bruno also joined the association’s eight-state Founders Affiliate Board, which oversees the association’s lifesaving mission in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Achievements

NAI The Dunham Group in Portland said that Justin Lamontagne earned the Society of Industrial & Office Realtor’s designation. Lamontagne is only the fifth broker in the state of Maine to carry both Certified Commercial Investment Member and SIOR designations.

The Maine Office of Tourism in Augusta received a “2017 Mercury Award” at the annual U.S. Travel Association’s Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations conference for excellence in tourism marketing. The organization won the award for the category Social Media, in recognition of its “2016 Instagram Influencer” campaign.

The Maine Development Foundation selected Susan Hunter as the recipient of its “Kenneth M. Curtis Leadership Award.” Hunter was named the 20th president of the University of Maine in July 2014.

GHM Insurance Agency in Waterville announced that Martha Wentworth received a “2017 Award of Excellence” from Safeco Insurance.

Channel 8 WMTW in Portland captured numerous awards at the 2017 Maine Association of Broadcasters News and Creative Awards. The station was selected for “Best Newscast” and “Best Weathercast” as well as being recognized for “Spot News,” “Website,” “Locally Produced Programming,” “Sport Play-by-Play” and “Sports Enterprise.” Additionally the station won first place honors for “Best Commercial Spot” that showcased the Maine Turnpike Authority and its “Work Zone Awareness” campaign and for “Public Service - Unsponsored Promotion” for the American Heart Association Heart Walk.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins received the Home Care and Hospice Alliance of Maine’s “Ruby Slipper Award” for her advocacy and long-time leadership for home care and hospice.

Maine Municipal Association recognized 17 municipalities for producing outstanding annual reports, including first-place winners Caribou, Vassalboro, Mount Desert, Carrabassett Valley and Cranberry Isles.

TruChoice Federal Credit Union in Portland was listed No. 8 by Credit Union Journal, a national publication, in its “Best Credit Unions to Work For” list. The credit union was also No. 2 in its asset category, credit unions with assets of less than $200 million.

AVANGRID, parent company of Central Maine Power, selected Coutts Bros., an electrical construction and maintenance contractor in Randolph, to receive its “Health and Safety Award.”
