Mary Beth (Boland) Haut has been named president and chief executive officer of Acadia Trust NA, the wealth management subsidiary of Camden National Corp. She will be based at Acadia Trust’s Portland offices, located at 5 Milk St., and will lead all of its investment and trust services throughout Maine and New England. She was previously at Citizens Private Bank, the private banking division of Citizens Bank, where she served as senior vice president and market executive for Massachusetts.
The Island Institute in Rockland hired Marydale Abernathy as vice president of media and communications. Abernathy was most recently principal of Highermind Mediaworks.
The Institute for Humane Education in Surry hired Barbara Fiore as director of its Solutionary Congress Program, a school-based initiative through which students learn about and solve real-world challenges. Fiore was previously an instructor and program director at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in Camden.
P&C Insurance in Westbrook hired Phillip Smith as commercial insurance executive and Chrissy Rioux as account manager for commercial lines. Smith was previously an insurance agent with Northern Insurance Group of Portland while Rioux was with C.N. Brown.
The Kids First Center, a nonprofit agency in Portland that helps children and parents cope with the effects of separation and divorce, hired Nicolle Carbone as executive director. Carbone was previously a manager at the Maine Judicial Branch.
The city of Portland hired Jason Shedlock as special assistant to the mayor. Shedlock most recently served as the deputy director of emergency management and board of health for the Sagadahoc County Emergency Management Agency in Bath.
C&L Aviation Group in Bangor hired Pat Lemieux as director of marketing. Lemieux has more than a decade of experience building brand awareness and audience development for both media companies and nonprofits.
PDT Architects in Portland hired Matthew Pitzer as project manager for commercial and historic preservation projects. Pitzer was with the Knickerbocker Group in Portland.
Franklin Health Women’s Care and Franklin Memorial Hospital hired Jacques Belair as a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist. Belair was previously with OB Hospitalist Group at two California locations, in Mountain View and Salinas.
The Schoodic Institute at Acadia National Park hired Nicholas Fisichelli as forest ecology program director. Fisichelli was previously with the National Park Service Climate Change Response Program.

Stantec, an engineering and architecture firm in Scarborough, promoted Tim Merritt to senior associate and Gregg Cohen and Jim Stewart to associates. Merritt leads the firm’s surface transportation team; Cohen specializes in National Environmental Policy Act compliance; and Stewart has nearly 30 years of environmental engineering experience, mainly focused on downstream petroleum industries.
Shamrock Sports & Entertainment in Portland promoted Brian Corcoran to CEO, Carl Hansson to president and COO and Brian Wold to account director. Corcoran had been president since the firm’s launch in January 2010, Hansson was chief strategic officer and Wold was an account manager.

The Maine Innkeepers Association in Augusta elected Jean Ginn Marvin of the Nonantum Resort as chair of its board of directors. Clark Insurance in Portland elected David Hamilton to its board of directors. Hamilton joined the agency in 2008. The firm also announced that Gregg Ritter was elected a fiduciary of Clark Insurance’s employee stock ownership plan trust. Ritter is an agency vice president.
Coastal Enterprises Inc., a lender and investor specializing in rural economic development based in Brunswick, announced that Joshua Davis and Regina Phillips were named to its board of directors. Davis is the co-founder and CEO of Gelato Fiasco, while Phillips is the refugee services program coordinator for the city of Portland.
Linda Riddell, population health scientist and principal at Health Economy LLC, a health data firm in Cape Elizabeth, joined the editorial board of the peer-reviewed journal, Population Health Management. The journal is published six times annually by the Thomas Jefferson University School of Public Health of Philadelphia.
Gov. Paul R. LePage reappointed Martha Harris to the state Board of Education for a second five-year term. Harris, who has served on the board since 2010 including one year as vice chair and as chair of the board since July 2015, is a lawyer in Bangor. John Bird and Wilson Hess also joined the board for five-year terms and Elise McKendry, as student representative, for a two-year term. Bird spent 29 years as an educator and administrator while Hess is a former president of the University of Maine at Fort Kent.

Connie Jones was the recipient of the 2016 Ikaria Award for contributions toward improving the lives of older adults at the 2016 Fill the Plate Breakfast held recently in Lewiston. Jones is a gerontologist at SeniorsPlus, an agency on aging located in Lewiston.
The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that Margo Walsh was selected to receive the Small Business Person of the Year award for Maine. Walsh is owner of MaineWorks LLC, a temporary employment agency in Portland that places workers on construction, bridge and road building sites.
