The Ecology School in Saco hired Bryan Matluk as development director. Matluk previously worked for York County Community College in the same capacity and is founder and owner of Exchange Street Studio in Portland.
First National Bank and its parent company, The First Bancorp, hired Timothy Wooster as a vice president and portfolio manager based in the Rockland office of First Advisors, the investment management and trust division of the bank. Most recently, Wooster was a vice president and investment officer at Bar Harbor Bank & Trust.
Goodwill Industries of Northern New England hired Jeri Lollini as senior director of business unit support. Most recently Lollini was the executive director of human resources for Olympus.
Pulp+Wire, a branding and marketing agency in Portland, hired Bryan Wiggins as senior brand strategist.
VHB, a civil engineering firm in South Portland, hired David Woodward to expand the firm's land development services and build upon its real estate practice in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
Gawron Turgeon Architects in Scarborough hired Michael Pednault as an architect designer.
Speaking Up for Us of Maine, a self-advocacy organization in Augusta for people living with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, hired Jon McGovern as program associate and Avery Olmstead as media/public relations associate.
Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, hired Andrys Malone as a project manager. Malone was previously employed with Acumen Solutions in McClean, Va.
Stantec, an engineering and architecture firm in Scarborough, hired Liz Brownell as senior structural engineer. Brownell previously worked for Becker Structural Engineers.
Landry/French Construction Co. in Scarborough hired Bud Kempton as mechanical coordinator. Kempton previously owned his own mechanical and plumbing business.
Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington announced that Jonathan Gasper joined its medical staff as a provider at Franklin Health Livermore Falls Family Practice. Gasper is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and previously provided care for patients at Winthrop Family Medicine.
R. W. Gillespie & Associates Inc., an engineering consulting firm in Saco, hired David Walker as a licensed professional geologist in the firm's environmental consulting group.
Allen Insurance and Financial in Rockland hired Cameron Gartley as a member of its personal insurance division in Camden and Jeremy Pickford as a member of its commercial insurance division in Camden.
York County Community Action Corp. hired Bob Currie as director of transportation. Currie was previously with the Capitol Region Education Council in Connecticut.
The Southern Midcoast Maine Chamber in Brunswick hired Cory King as executive director. King was most recently the executive director of the Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce.
Promotions
The Bar Harbor Chamber of Commerce promoted Martha Searchfield to executive director. Searchfield had been serving as interim director since January.
Stantec, an engineering and architecture firm in Scarborough, promoted Dan Taylor to senior structural engineer. Taylor has been a member of the firm's transportation group since 2011.
Competitive Energy Services, an energy advisory firm in Portland, promoted Michelle Tham to director of analytics, Greg Smith to senior energy analyst and Matt Gamache to energy and renewables analyst. Tham was an analyst, Smith was a member of the firm's analytical department and Gamache was an energy analyst.
Appointments
OHI, a nonprofit in Hermon that provides support and services to people with intellectual disabilities, autism and mental illness, elected Thad Zmistowski to its board of directors. Zmistowski is an attorney at Eaton Peabody in Bangor.
NAI The Dunham Group, a real estate firm in Portland, said that Brad Moll was appointed to the board of the state program Land for Maine's Future. This governor-appointed board is the state's primary funding vehicle for conserving land for its natural and recreational value.
Achievements
The Professional Logging Contractors of Maine recognized Maine Senate President Michael Thibodeau and Maine House Speaker Mark Eves for their work on behalf of Maine loggers at its annual meeting. The organization also said it raised approximately $33,000 for the Log a Load for Kids Foundation to benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Franklin Health Farmington Family Practice received National Committee for Quality Assurance Patient-Centered Medical Home recognition for using evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care and long-term, participative relationships. The practice received Level 3, the highest status.
Rachel Bouvier earned certification as an Envision Sustainability Professional through the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure. Bouvier is principal of rbouvier consulting, an economic and statistical analysis firm in Portland that specializes in environmental and natural resource issues.
National Life Group announced that the city of Rockland will represent the state of Maine in its 2016 Main Streets Across America, a celebration of streets in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia that reflect strong 'main street values' and play a central role in the communities in which they are located and have great stories to tell.
The Trust To Conserve Northeast Forestlands in Brewer announced the latest loggers to become Master Logger certified through the Northeast Master Logger Certification Program including: Andy Dillon, AD Forestry Specialist, Madison; Chuck Ames, SDR Logging, Sebec; Wayne Tripp, WC Tripp Forest Products, Frankfort; David Gordon, David Gordon Logging, Farmington; Caleb and Corey Chaplin, Chaplin Logging, Naples; Greg Adams, GCA Logging, Avon; and Andrew Madden, AS Madden, Greenbush. In addition, Master Loggers Supporters Awards were presented to Jessica Leahy of the University of Maine's School of Forest Resources; Rodney Wales, former president of the Professional Logging Contractors of Maine; Doug Emmerthal of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Forestry Division; and Bud Blumenstock, professor emeritus of forestry at the University of Maine.
The Maine Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy in Augusta recognized Amanda Peterson as Maine's Financial Educator of the Year. Peterson is a business teacher at United Technologies Center in Bangor.
Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, was recognized for its rebrand and advertising overhaul completed in 2015 by two organizations. REBRAND 100 Global Awards awarded the firm a Merit Award and the Legal Marketing Association's New England Chapter Your Honor Awards awarded the firm first place honors in two categories: Identity and Advertising. In addition, the firm's marketing agency, Thinkso Creative in New York City, submitted an entry and won the 2016 REBRAND 100 Merit Award.
S.W. Collins Co., a lumber store in Caribou, said that Gaye Richards earned certification as an Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer from the National Kitchen & Bath Association, the leading trade association for the kitchen and bath industry.
Portland International Jetport announced it was named the “Best Airport in North America” by Airport Council Internationals Airport Service Quality program.
Cushman Creative, a design agency in Port Clyde specializing in biomedical and life science marketing, was honored with a 2016 Gold Hermes Creative Award for creating a corporate event for Delta Airlines.
Victoria Littlefield, a volunteer from Pittston, was recognized with the 2015 Look Good Feel Better National Sunrise Award for her service and commitment to the Look Good Feel Better program, a free national program dedicated to improving the lives of women undergoing cancer treatment. Littlefield was one of three nationally to be recognized.
Woodlawn, a museum, garden and park in Ellsworth, received top ratings in customer satisfaction from Visitors Count!, a national audience survey program of the American Association for State and Local History in partnership with the Center for Nonprofit Management in Nashville, Tenn.
CARF International announced that Crossroads, a nonprofit in Scarborough that provides addiction and behavioral health treatment services, was accredited for a period of three years for its outpatient, IOP and residential treatment programs for drug and alcohol addiction.

Winners included Maureen Andrew, a registered nurse at the Hospice House; Kathy Gould, hospice aide in Wilton; Anita Lane, a registered nurse in Lewiston; Diane Marcotte, a registered nurse in Bridgton; Ann Perkins, performance improvement coordinator in Lewiston; Chuck Smith, a social worker on the Community Care Team; and Nina Sweet, a registered nurse on the Hospice Team. Also, Linda Frechette, a registered nurse in Norway, received the 2015 Recognition Hotline Award.

Spurwink, a nonprofit in Portland that provides behavioral health and educational services for children, adults and families, announced that Lawrence Ricci was presented with the 2016 Ray E. Helfer Award for providing leadership to enhance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of child abuse and neglect. Ricci is the medical director of the Spurwink Child Abuse Program in Portland.
