New hires

NAI The Dunham Group, a real estate firm in Portland, hired Sam LeGeyt as a member of its brokerage team. LeGeyt was previously a broker at Harnden Commercial Brokers.

Starboard Leadership Consulting, an affiliate of the law firm of Rudman Winchell in Bangor, hired Mike Hyde as consulting partner. Hyde was previously with Jackson Laboratory.

Broadreach Public Relations, a strategic public relations firm in Portland, hired Meg Handlin as a senior client manager and PR strategist. Handlin was an independent PR strategist.

OTELCO, a wireline telecommunications company in New Gloucester, hired Chris Mathieu as manager of carrier sales. Mathieu has 20 years of experience in the telecom industry, including 15 years of experience in the wholesale market.

GAC Chemical Corp. in Searsport hired Craig Martin as vice president of sales and marketing. Martin was the North America sales director for Trinseo, a global materials solutions provider and manufacturer of plastics, latex binders and synthetic rubber.

Michaud Accounting Solutions in Portland hired David Dubois as a senior consultant.

Bigelow Investment Advisors in Portland hired Donna Ewert as vice president and senior advisor. Ewert was a portfolio manager and client advisor with Robinson Smith Wealth Advisors in Portland.

CD&M Communications in Portland hired Clare Morin as content marketing manager. Morin has 18 years of experience in content marketing strategy, public relations and journalism.

Robinson Kriger and McCallum, a law firm in Portland, hired Elizabeth Tull as an associate attorney in the workers' compensation insurance defense area.

Stroudwater Associates, a national health care consulting firm in Portland, hired Heidi Larson as a consultant and Cynthia Wicks as a principal. Larson has 20 years of clinical experience while Wicks has spent three decades in the health care industry.

Ecomaine in Portland hired Matt Grondin as communications manager. Grondin was previously with Maine Public.

Gawron Turgeon Architects PC in Scarborough hired Kimberly Frost as administrative coordinator. Frost was previously office manager at Temple Emanuel in St. Louis, Mo.

Midcoast Federal Credit Union in Freeport hired Kelly Jacobson as retail services supervisor and assistant branch manager in Brunswick. Jacobson has seven years of financial industry leadership experience.

University of Maine System hired Joan Ferrini-Mundy as the 21st president of the University of Maine and the president of the University of Maine at Machias. Ferrini-Mundy, currently COO of the National Science Foundation, is scheduled to begin her new position on July 1.

Perkins Thompson, a law firm in Portland, hired Brandon Mazer as an associate attorney in its business practice group with a particular focus on the firm's craft beverage specialty practice area. Mazer previously served as general counsel for Shipyard Brewing Co.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired JennieLea Hanna as nurse-midwife with Franklin Health Women's Care.

Consigli, a construction company and general contractor in Portland, hired Timothy Stauder as senior project manager, Edward Pellerin and Seric Kapp as superintendents and Cassondra Sherman and Nick Karkos as project engineers.

Promotions

The Maine Senate confirmed the nomination of Dan Brennan as director of MaineHousing in Augusta. Brennan was previously senior director of programs.

University Credit Union in Orono promoted Stacey Young to assistant vice president of retail services. Young previously served as retail services manager.

OTELCO, a wireline telecommunications company in New Gloucester, promoted Troy Rowell to director of sales. Rowell was most recently manager of sales for wholesale and retail.

Katahdin Trust promoted Rebecca Potter to commercial services officer in Bangor. Potter was previously commercial services assistant.

TRC, an engineering consulting firm in Augusta, promoted Ben Cynewski, Zach Atherton and Isaac Crisp to senior engineer for its system protection team.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington promoted Nicole Ray to hospitalist. Ray previously served as the hospitalist program coordinator.

The Maine Community College System promoted Dan Belyea to executive director of workforce training. Belyea, who has held many leadership positions within community colleges over the past 29 years, previously served as interim director for the past nine months.

Stroudwater Associates, a national health care consulting firm in Portland, promoted Lindsay Corcoran and Ryan Sprinkle to senior consultants.

Care & Comfort, a behavioral and home health care agency in Waterville, promoted Michael Stair to president. Stair, who joined the agency in 2015, will continue to serve as COO.

Greater Portland Health promoted Ann Tucker to CEO. Tucker, who has 20 years of leadership experience in drug retail, insurance, transit including 13 years in the health care industry, joined the agency as CFO in 2012 and had been serving as interim CEO.

Bar Harbor Bankshares promoted Kimberly Nason, Lara Horner, Lorraine Ivers and John Williams to senior vice president. Nason is senior vice president, retail lending support manager; Horner is senior vice president, director of trust operations; Ivers is senior vice president, chief compliance officer; and Williams is senior vice president, enterprise risk management and project management.

InterMed, a physician-owned primary care practice in Portland, promoted Mary Jennings to chief of pediatrics. Jennings, who joined the practice in 2012, is board-certified in pediatrics and a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Maine American Academy of Pediatrics and the Maine Medical Association.

Appointments

Main Street Bucksport added Sarah Bissonnette and Ron Russell to its board of directors.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland added Frank Benedict, Christine Hume and Lex Meagher to its board of directors. Benedict is a vice president and regional sales manager for Bangor Savings Bank, Hume is a vice president and appraisal review specialist for Kennebunk Savings Bank and Meagher is general counsel and compliance officer for Kennebunk Savings Bank.

The Portland Water District elected William Lunt as president of its board of trustees and Guy Cote as vice president. Lunt, a general contractor, represents Falmouth and Cumberland on the board while Cote, president of Sevee & Maher Engineers, represents Westbrook. In addition, David Kane was reelected treasurer and Donna Katsiaficas was reelected clerk.

Bath Housing announced that Stephen Schuchert and Julie Shea joined the Bath Housing Development Corp. board of directors and that Bath City Council appointed Judy Martin, Karen Ray and Barbara Gaul as Bath Housing Authority commissioners. Schuchert is a construction administrator for CWS Architects in Portland, Shea co-owns the Mustard Seed Bookstore in Bath, Martin works for Midcoast Maine Community Action's Head Start Program and Ray and Gaul are retired.

The Healthcare Purchaser Alliance of Maine in Topsham added Kurt Caswell to its board of directors. Caswell is director of health and benefits for the state of Maine.

The Maine Trust for People with Disabilities added Barbara Schlichtman and Donna Temple to its board of advisors. Schlichtman is an attorney with Maine Center for Elder Law LLC and Temple is senior vice president at People's United Bank NA.

Achievements

The Maine Justice Foundation presented the “Howard H. Dana Jr. Award” to Nan Heald, executive director of Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Portland, and the “New Lawyer Award” to Stanley Tupper III, an attorney at Frederick, Quinlan and Tupper in Portland.

U.S. Sen. Angus King was named a “YMCA Congressional Champion” in Washington, D.C., for his sponsorship of the Promoting Affordable Childcare for Everyone Act and his efforts in eliminating health disparities through support of the REACH program.

Children's Miracle Network Hospitals announced that Frank 107.5 and 99.9 The Wolf, radio stations in Portland, were selected as the “2017 English Radio Partners of the Year” as a result of their ongoing commitment to The Barbara Bush Children's Hospital in Portland.

Hugh Keene was honored with the “2018 Ikaria Award” by SeniorsPlus, an agency on aging located in Lewiston. The award honors an individual in the community for singular and outstanding contributions toward improving the lives of older adults. Keene served on the board of directors and advisory board of the agency as well as on the Frye School Housing Development Inc. board.

David's Restaurant in Portland won the people's and judges' choice awards at Maine Restaurant Week's Spirit Quest event.

Norman Hanson DeTroy LLC, a law firm in Portland, said that Jonathan Brogan became a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, one of the premier legal associations in America. Brogan concentrates his practice in litigation.

Christine Pistole, owner and spice master of Gryffon Ridge Spice Merchants in Litchfield, was selected by chef, award-winning TV personality, writer and teacher Andrew Zimmern to create spice blends for inclusion in his online shop.

Seaboard Federal Credit Union in Bucksport honored with a “Diamond Award” from the Credit Union National Association Marketing & Business Development Council, a national network comprised of over 1,300 credit union marketing and business development professionals. The award recognizes outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry.

The American Cancer Society presented Daniel Landry, an anesthesiologist with Spectrum Healthcare Partners in South Portland, with its traveling “Maine Man” trophy. Landry earned the award for being a top fundraiser in Maine last year in the organizations' Real Men Wear Pink campaign.

Peggy Akers, a nurse practitioner for the city of Portland's Public Health Division, was chosen as the Maine recipient of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners “2018 State Award for Excellence.”

U.S. Sen. Angus King was honored with the “Congressional Champion for Children Award” by Save the Children Action Network. The award was presented to King for his leadership in sponsoring the Promoting Affordable Childcare for Everyone Act.

Efficiency Maine awarded Maine Coast Waldorf School in Freeport a plaque designating its new net zero high school as a certified Maine Advanced Building. To achieve certification, a building has been verified to meet the New Buildings Institute's Advanced Buildings New Construction Guide at the tier two level.

Kim Block of WGME News 13 in Portland received the “Governor Curtis Family Leadership Award” and the 136th Engineer Company Maine Army National Guard was presented the “Partnership Award” from the Susan L. Curtis Foundation during its Leadership Celebration dinner.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance awarded 20 Maine Medical Partners specialty practice sites with “Level 3 Patient-Centered Specialty Practice Recognition,” the highest level possible. The recognition is earned by specialty practices that demonstrate evidence-based, patient-centered processes that focus on highly coordinated care, long-term relationships with patients and family members and collaboration with primary care.

Clark Insurance in Portland was named a “Silver ESOP Award” winner by The ESOP Association. The award recognizes companies for its work in sustaining its employee stock ownership plan for 25 years or more.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington said that Beth Hartsock completed cardiology training to fulfill the technical skills needed for the competent performance of stress testing, as outlined by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association. Hartsock is board certified as an adult nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Jim Pross, an attorney at Auburn law firm Skelton Taintor & Abbott, presented at the Central Maine Human Resources Association chapter meeting on the topic of “Workers' Compensation Claims for Employers: Helpful Hints and a Guide to Handling Claims.”

Penobscot Community Health Care in Bangor was one of 418 health care facilities nationwide to be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation as a “LGBTQ Healthcare Equality Leader.”

Junior Achievement of Maine in Portland received a “Peak Performance Award” from National Partner Junior Achievement USA. The award recognizes annual performance by a Junior Achievement Area team in achieving growth in students reached or contact hours delivered, while sustaining financial and operational soundness.

U.S. Sen.
