Saco & Biddeford Savings has appointed a board chair with a range of experience in marketing, communications, planning and development in banking and health care.
Sue Hadiaris takes over for Roland Eon, who served three years as chair. Eon, who joined the board in 2005, will continue to serve on the member.
In this position, Hadiaris will oversee the board’s strategic direction to ensure that the bank continues to deliver on its mutual mission.
“SBSI is the most people-considerate organization I know,” said Hadiaris. The sincere goodness of the people who work at SBSI is continually humbling. They truly get to know the customers and are actively involved in the community. For close to 200 years the bank has been rock solid in its commitment to its customers. SBSI mirrors the strength of the people and communities it serves.”
Hadiaris worked as senior vice president and chief planning officer at Southern Maine Health Care until she retired.
The Saco resident has also held several other senior leadership positions and numerous community service boards, including the Saco School Committee and the United Way of York County.

Founded in 1827, the bank has branches in Saco, Biddeford, Old Orchard Beach, Portland, Scarborough, South Portland and Westbrook. It has 196 employees.
