Duratherm Windows Corp., a nearly 50-year-old Vassalboro-based manufacturer and designer of custom windows and doors, has been acquired by the Iowa-based Pella Corp., in a transaction that will expand Pella’s manufacturing reach to 13 locations across the country.
Terms of the deal, which was announced Wednesday, were not disclosed.
“It was a pleasant surprise to me when I received a call from Pella, especially since I wasn’t actively seeking to sell the business,” Duratherm President Tim Downing said in news release. “This partnership creates exciting possibilities for Duratherm. With Pella’s involvement, we will continue to be trailblazers within the architectural community and grow.”
Downing and the rest of Duratherm’s 70 employees will maintain the company’s brand for the time being, after which the company will be integrated into the Pella Crafted Luxury collection.
This is the third acquisition for Pella during the past two years, including the Michigan-based Grabill Windows & Doors, acquired in 2015 and the New York-based Reilly Windows & Doors, which was attained in July 2016.
