JAX expands its California presence

Bar Harbor-based Jackson Laboratory has expanded its California facility, according to VillageSoup.

The biomedical nonprofit organization has moved to a new location in Sacramento that is doubling the size of its original facility to 85,000 square feet, according to the news website. Jackson Lab opened its facility in West Sacramento, called The Jackson Laboratory--West, in 2001, and began moving to its new location last year. About 100 people work at the new facility, which Jackson officials said will enable more cancer and stem cell research collaborations, and reduce the organization's bottom line by allowing scientists to do more services in-house rather than contracting them to outside companies, according to VillageSoup.
