After buying a 10,000-square-foot building a year ago and performing extensive renovations, wealth management firm J.M. Arbour Wealth Management recently cut the ribbon at its location at 1 Brunswick Ave. in Gardiner.

"This building is a one-of-a-kind concept that we know will benefit our current and future clients,” said Jac Arbour, the company’s founder and CEO.

The company moved its headquarters from Hallowell to Gardiner to increase capacity and offer a range of financial services in one building, which the firm has dubbed “the Financial Hub of Maine.” The downtown office building dates back to 1875.

Jac Arbour, a certified financial planner, founded J.M. Arbour, with offices in Maine and Arizona, in 2007.

Arbour, 39, is also an entrepreneur and real estate investor.

As an entrepreneur, he serves as a consultant to startups and as an executive to outdoor equipment maker PacBak Inc. As a consultant and investor, his area of focus is with companies in the fintech and outdoor equipment industries.

He’s also written four books and financial guides, including: “May You Drink from the Saucer” (2013), “This Little Piggy, a financial literacy book for children and families” (2021), a career transition financial guide called “The Art of the Rollover” (2020) and “The Ultimate Guide to Retirement Income” (2021).

In Hallowell, Arbour had eight people on his private wealth team, with expectations of doubling the number within a year.

Search parameters for larger quarters included square-footage large enough for a minimum of 14 office spaces plus conference and meeting rooms.

Renovations included demolition followed by installation of plumbing, heating, electrical, floors, windows, doors, lighting, phone system, HVAC and technology systems.

The new location will include four financial advisors, operations team, portfolio administrator, independent tax professional, attorney, paralegals, Medicare agent and insurance broker.
