Judge rules in Scarcelli's favor in family feud
A U.S. District Court Judge has ruled in favor of former gubernatorial candidate and Portland-based Stanford Property Management CEO Rosa Scarcelli in a legal battle with her mother. Another case Scarcelli has against her mother and stepfather, however, is still pending.
Judge George Singal ruled yesterday that Scarcelli's mother, Pamela Gleichman, is not entitled to proceeds from the sale of a subsidized apartment project in Norwalk, Conn., according to the Portland Press Herald. The project is owned by Oak Knoll Associates LP, of which Gleichman is managing general partner and Scarcelli is general partner. The judge found that the terms of the sale set by Gleichman are unreasonable and for her own personal gain. Proceeds from a sale must instead go to a trust, and Scarcelli must give Gleichman permission to enter into any sales contract, according to the judge's ruling.
Scarcelli in February filed a lawsuit against Gleichman and her stepfather, Karl Norberg, over allegations of mismanagement at several housing projects, including some in Maine. The family is battling over who has ownership in GN Holdings LP, the affordable housing company. Norberg and Gleichman have filed a countersuit.
