Kennebec Technologies expands with plans to add staff

Kennebec Technologies, a high-precision manufacturer in Augusta, has opened a new wing that it expects to support up to a dozen new jobs.

President Charles "Wick" Johnson said he anticipates the 4,000-square-foot expansion of the company's headquarters will boost its work force from 63 to 75 this year, according to a press release from Gov. Paul LePage's office. LePage was on hand Monday to celebrate the opening of the new wing. Kennebec Technologies manufactures components for the aerospace, semiconductor, energy, medical and telecommunications industries for companies like Boeing, GE, Rolls Royce and Pratt & Whitney.

Since it changed its name from Kennebec Tool and Die in 2009, the company has invested more than $2 million in renovations and new equipment and added 25 employees, according to the release.
