The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority has evicted the aircraft manufacturing company Kestrel from Brunswick Landing.
According to a report by CBS13 published in the Bangor Daily News, MRRA Director Steve Levesque confirmed that the company, which was one of the first tenants at Brunswick Landing, was evicted because it failed to meet its financial obligations.
CBS13 reported that as early as 2013 Kestrel was behind on paying its rent and vendors and also had to cut health, life and dental insurance after it failed to pay premiums for its employees. The news station reported that it was unclear how the eviction would impact as many as 40 employees of Kestrel’s Brunswick facility.
When it first arrived at Brunswick Landing in 2011 Kestrel touted its potential to add 600 jobs there by 2016. But by early 2012 its plans shifted to Wisconsin, which had promised various financial incentives if Kestrel located its manufacturing facility there.
Kestrel did so, but continued to maintain a small operation at Brunswick Landing.
In 2015, Kestrel merged with an Albuquerque, N.M., aviation company, Eclipse Aerospace, to become a company called ONE Aviation.
