LaMarche leaves casino campaign

Pat LaMarche, a former Maine gubernatorial candidate, is stepping down from her role as spokesperson for Evergreen Mountain Enterprises' campaign to bring a casino to western Maine, according to the Associated Press.
LaMarche, who joined the campaign in April, says she is resigning because of "legal and professional issues" surrounding Seth Carey, a Rumford lawyer and founder of the Oxford County casino effort, the AP said.
The Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar in early August directed its counsel to begin disciplinary action against Carey for professional misconduct.
