LCI, a division of Lincolnville Telephone Family of Companies, said its new O.P.E.N. fiber optic network is now available to many homes and business in some Midcoast communities.
They are Belfast, Camden, Rockport, Rockland, Waldoboro, Damariscotta, Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, Nobleboro, Newcastle, Alna, South Bristol, Bristol, New Harbor and Bremen.
The network can provide a high-speed connection to the internet and a full range of home and business telephone options, according to a company release.
“Over the past several years we have invested heavily in these Midcoast communities to be able to launch one of the most robust fiber optic networks in Maine,” Shirley Manning, president of LCI, said in a release. “We know that these communities have been anxiously waiting for this fiber network expansion”
Rick Manning, vice president of engineering and business development for LCI, said the fiber network will be a major boost for economic development in the Midcoast.
He noted, “Whenever we meet with town officials in the Midcoast they all say that accessible, reliable, high-speed broadband is essential for the ongoing economic vitality of their communities. We know that fiber optic internet is the best long-term solution for these communities — and we’re excited to be partnering with them to make that future a reality.”
Now with over 50 employees, LCI operates out of its state-of-the-art facility in Nobleboro that’s equipped with secure servers, a data center, digital switching hub, engineering department, network monitoring services, technical support division, installation crews and a customer service center.
