Geiger, a promotional products distributor based in Lewiston, has opened a logistics office in the Netherlands to support its global business.
The Rotterdam branch, operated by a Geiger subsidiary near London, will serve as a fulfillment and distribution hub for deliveries in Europe and the Middle East, the company said in a news release Tuesday.
The office will also be a central point for customs clearance. And the location inside the European Union simplifies compliance with value-added tax requirements for EU customers outside the U.K., according to Geiger.
“Clients are demanding global services for their merchandising programs, with local marketing support,” Geiger President and CEO Jo-an Lantz said in the release. “The ability to provide a global supply chain is critical and the new Rotterdam location supports our international strategy.”
With 300 employees and over 450 affiliated sales representatives, Geiger is the world's largest family-owned, family-managed promotional products company, according to its website. The business was founded in 1878 and moved its headquarters from New Jersey to Lewiston in 1955.
The U.K. subsidiary opened in 1977 and has about 80 employees.
