Geiger, a Lewiston-based promotional products distributor with a growing presence in Europe, has acquired a U.K. company to help serve that market.
Geiger and its subsidiary GeigerBTC have purchased Shout Promotional Merchandise, of London, according to a news release Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.
Shout, founded in 2003, is a nine-person company that works with clients Microsoft Corp. and the BBC, according to the company website. In addition to promotional products, Shout offers services including logo design, merchandise storage and customer fulfillment.
“Shout has a creative, energetic vibe, with a large team of professional marketeers with the experience of working with premier international companies,” Geiger President Jo-an Lantz said in the release.
GeigerBTC was formed in 2018 by the merger of Geiger and a British distributor, and is based in Hayes, about 20 miles from Shout. In July, GeigerBTC opened a logistics office in the Netherlands to support the global business. The Rotterdam branch serves as a fulfillment and distribution hub for deliveries in Europe and the Middle East.
With 300 employees and over 450 affiliated sales representatives, Geiger is one of the largest family-owned, family-managed promotional products companies in the world, according to its website. The company's 2018 sales totaled $210 million, the Advertising Specialty Institute reported in July, up 13.5% from 2017. Geiger's sales revenue has grown at an average rate of 5.8% over the past five years.
In May, the company purchased Freeport-based Winter People Image Marketing.
Geiger was founded in 1878 and moved its headquarters from New Jersey to Lewiston in 1955. The U.K. subsidiary opened in 1977 and has about 80 employees.
