Lewiston's former White Rock Distillery will close by early 2014, cutting 160 jobs at the facility owned by the Kentucky-based Beam Inc., which makes Jim Beam bourbon.
The company announced Thursday that it would move its bottling operations for Pinnacle Vodka and Calico Jack Rum brands from Lewiston to Kentucky to consolidate the company's production lines, according to the Sun Journal.
The company reported that more than two-thirds of its current production comes out of Kentucky.
The move will happen in phases and company spokesman Ian Gourlay told the paper that the company might sell the plant after the operation is closed.
Company spokeswoman Paula Erickson told the Bangor Daily News that the consolidation will create 45 jobs at the company's Frankfort, Ky., plant.
Beam Inc. purchased the two liquor lines and others from White Rock Distilleries in April 2012 for $650 million. Other liquor brands made and bottled at the facility had been sold off individually before and after the sale to Beam.
