The city of Lewiston is launching a new marketing campaign entitled This is Lewiston, designed to spur economic growth and investment by focusing on the municipality's assets.

Nate Libby, director of Economic & Community Development for the City of Lewiston, announced the initiative earlier this week at a Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce breakfast.

The campaign includes a website highlighting $174.9 million in improvements to downtown neighborhoods and infrastructure which were funded by private and public grants including a $34.2 million federal Choice Neighborhood grant. A press release announcing the campaign said investments throughout Lewiston have totaled over $324.5 million over the past four years.

The new site also touts the city’s progressive development approach, an educated workforce, affordable real estate and quality of life.

Danielle Snow, chair of the Downtown Lewiston Association board of directors, said at the unveiling, "This campaign challenges us to move beyond tired rhetoric about Lewiston and asks us to invest in what is possible here. Those conversations are critically important to our downtown businesses, and we are proud to be a part of these efforts.

"This is Lewiston helps to articulate exactly what discerning investors see here: a growing community worth attention, support and putting our dollars behind."

Shanna Cox, president and CEO of the chamber, commented, "We have all been part of conversations about the challenges our community is facing. ‘This is Lewiston’ acknowledges those challenges and asks us to look at Lewiston in its entirety. It amplifies the innovative and complex work people do here every day and that is key to strengthening our local economy."

The campaign was developed with funding from the John T. Gorman Foundation.
