With fuel discount app, WEX to keep on truckin' with Circle K

Less than six months after WEX Inc. (NYSE: WEX) rolled out the 10-4 fuel discount app for truckers, the Circle K convenience store chain has signed up as an accepting merchant.

Circle K is now an accepting merchant of WEX's 10-4 fuel-discount app for truckers.

The arrangement is covered in a multi-year contract extension that solidifies a longstanding collaboration between the two companies across multiple business lines of WEX, a Portland-based financial technology services provider.

Circle K, a Tempe, Ariz.-headquartered chain owned by Quebec-based Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc., since 2003, operates more than 6,800 company-owned sites across the United States. More than 475 locations sell high-flow diesel as well as food and beverages.

Under the agreement with WEX, drivers can now use the 10-4 app at 60% of Circle K locations, as well as join the retailer's loyalty program for in-store incentives when fueling up.

Megan Zaroda, a spokeswoman for WEX, told Mainebiz that eight Circle K locations in Maine are now accepting the 10-4 app.

The companies have been doing business together for more than 15 years.

“This renewed agreement is a testament to the strong relationship we have built with Circle K over the years and our shared commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences,” said Brian Fournier, WEX Americas senior vice president and general manager for fleet.

“Deepening our technological integrations and broadening our combined efforts to expand access to discounts will provide fleet customers with greater convenience and flexibility when managing their fuel expenses,” he added.

WEX’s latest earnings results, posted in February, showed a decrease in fourth-quarter revenue earnings and revenue. The company blamed the decline on “unfavorable” fuel prices and currency exchange rates.

Based on revenue in 2023, WEX was ranked Maine's second-largest publicly traded company after IDEXX Laboratories Inc. in the 2025 Mainebiz Book of Lists.

As of Friday’s close on Wall Street, WEX shares had a market value of around $6.25 billion. Shares are trading 33% lower than a year ago.
