Lobstermen protest

Maine lobstermen from Prospect Harbor to Cutler didn't fish Monday to protest the price they're paid for lobsters.

Distributors currently buy lobsters off the boat for around $3.75 per pound, according to WCSH6. But by the time they reach the store, consumers typically buy lobsters at a per-pound rate almost three times what lobstermen are paid. Lobstermen say the mark-up from boat to store leaves them in the cold. "The price of our product has in no way kept pace with our expenses," lobsterman Colby Young told the television news show.

Distributors counter that keeping lobsters alive until consumers buy them is expensive.
