Maine & Maritimes Corp. President and CEO Brent Boyles is stepping down to take a job with the utility's new Canadian parent company.
Boyles, who is also head of Maine & Maritimes subsidiary Maine Public Service Co., will assume the role of vice president of Maine business relations for Emera, effective June 15, according to a press release. In his new job, Boyles will focus on developing transmission connections to new energy markets within New England, perform government relations and continue work on the Maine Power Connection, a proposed 200-mile transmission line from Detroit, Maine, to Limestone that would connect Aroostook County to the Maine electricity grid. Boyles has served as head of the companies since 2005. Maine Public Service distributes electricity to approximately 36,000 customers in northern Maine.
Gerry Chasse, currently president and COO of Bangor Hydro Electric Co., also an Emera-owned company, will become the new president and CEO of Maine & Maritimes and Maine Public Service. Last year, Nova Scotia-based Emera acquired Maine & Maritimes through its subsidiary BHE Holdings Inc., which also owns Bangor Hydro.
