Maine Outdoor Brands, a trade group that advocates for the state’s outdoor recreation industry, has hired its first full-time executive director.
Jenny Kordick, who has a decade of nonprofit management experience, began work in June as head of operations for the 100-member organization, according to a news release Monday.
Kordick previously worked for the Wilderness Society in Washington, D.C., directing campaigns to protect public lands. She also has served with the National Wildlife Federation.
She holds an undergraduate degree from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and is working toward an MBA from Boston University.
“Bringing Jenny on board is a huge milestone for us,” said Jim Hauptman, president of Maine Outdoor Brands and managing partner at Blaze Partners, a Yarmouth advertising agency that co-founded MOB two years ago.
“This was the logical next step. We’re doubling down on the vision that first inspired MOB’s creation — to foster the development of the outdoor brands that call Maine home and to advocate on their behalf in growing the state’s outdoor recreation economy.”
Maine Outdoor Brands is a nonprofit organization of business leaders and entrepreneurs, working to raise awareness of Maine’s $8.2 billion outdoor recreation economy and to strengthen the state's outdoor businesses through knowledge sharing, collaborative marketing and shared professional resources. Based in Portland, the nonprofit was formed in 2017 by leaders from several Maine outdoor recreation and marketing companies, including Blaze Partners, of Yarmouth; Good To-Go, of Kittery; Flowfold, of Gorham; Trailspace.com, of Belgrade Lakes; and Stabil, of Biddeford.
