Maine receives $1.4M to improve healthcare

A national philanthropic group yesterday said Maine would receive $1.4 million as part of national initiative to improve the quality of healthcare.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation said Thursday it will donate $1.4 million over three years to Quality Counts, an Augusta-based alliance of businesses and healthcare professionals charged with coordinating efforts to improve the quality of healthcare for Mainers, according to a press release from the foundation. The grant is part of the foundation's Aligning Forces for Quality initiative, which will provide $300 million to 13 states and communities across the country.

Quality Counts, established in 2006, will use the funding to make more doctor ratings available on-line and research areas where clinicians can improve.
