Maine Source Homes & Realty in Auburn said it’s celebrating its 50th anniversary this year by giving back to the Lewiston-Auburn community.

The company’s “Helping Our Neighbors Campaign” identified six local nonprofits and charities it will support throughout 2022.

On March 31, at Side-by-Each Brewery in Auburn, Jon Mercier, a designated broker and Realtor, offered a donation check for $2,700 to the Androscoggin Land Trust, the first of the six beneficiaries.

The company was founded in 1972.

“We feel this success delivers an opportunity to give back to the community we love,” said Mercier.

Speaking on behalf of the Androscoggin Land Trust, board member Jim Pross said the support was timely, as the trust embarks on a fundraising campaign to acquire and conserve Camp Gustin on Loon Pond in Sabattus.

“With this help from Maine Source, we are building momentum in our effort to protect Camp Gustin for public camping, hiking, and continued Boy Scout uses for generations to come,” Pross said.

The campaign is funded by Maine Source realtors and clients. For each house-closing the company assists clients with during a given two-month period throughout 2022, the company donates $100 to one of the beneficiaries. Androscoggin Land Trust was the designated beneficiary for January-February.

Maine Source also asks the realtor and the client if they would like to match the donation. The strategy resulted in the $2,700 donation to the trust.

Androscoggin Land Trust’s mission is to cherish, preserve and conserve the Androscoggin River.
