Maine Water Co. will have a new president, effective April 1.

Richard (Rick) Knowlton will succeed Judy Wallingford, who announced her planned retirement last fall.

Wallingford has served as president since 1993 and has been with the Saco-based company since 1980. She received a lifetime achievement award from the Maine Water Utilities Association.

Knowlton served as vice president of operations, joining Maine Water in 1993.

In his new role, he will oversee customer service, operations, engineering, water quality and field service teams.

“I’ve worked alongside Rick for almost 25 years. He is a natural and accomplished leader, and he has an intense focus on world-class customer service for customers and communities. Maine Water is in good hands,” Wallingford said.

Maine Water serves 32,000 customers, or a population of 100,000, in over 20 communities.
