MaineCare processor to create Augusta jobs

Augusta's downtown will get a boost next year as health data processor Unisys announced it will open an office on Water Street.

The global technology company, which won a $179 million, seven-year contract from the state Department of Health and Human Services to provide a new system to manage Maine's Medicaid program, expects to employ between 50 and 60 people, according to the Kennebec Journal. Unisys already has about 40 employees in Augusta in administrative offices at the Central Maine Commerce Center.

A spokesman said Unisys expects to begin operations in January.
