A New Hampshire hospital is set to become MaineHealth system's first out-of-state affiliate following a vote by the hospital's board of trustees last week.
The North Conway, N.H.-based Memorial Hospital will join the MaineHealth network to help the hospital with changes in payment systems and technology upgrades expected in the coming years, according to a press release.
Memorial already has a close relationship with Maine Medical Center, where it says it makes approximately 90% of its inpatient referrals. Maine Medical Center is part of the not-for-profit MaineHealth network.
The network includes 12 member organizations in Maine and affiliates that include MaineGeneral Medical Center, Mid Coast Hospital and St. Mary's Regional Medical Center.
The New Hampshire hospital says it will hold a community hearing April 11 to explain the membership agreement and take public comments.
That agreement will be subject to final approval by a unit of the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.
