Century-old Bucksport retailer, Rosen's, to close

Downtown Bucksport retailer Rosen's will close its doors this year after more than 100 years in business.

The store, founded by former Sen. Richard Rosen's parents Robert and Sarah in 1910, has been a fixture of the town's Main Street since it moved to Bucksport from Baileyville in 1929, according to the Bangor Daily News.

The store is selling its current inventory — at 50% off — and will close its doors soon after the sale.

Richard Rosen, who is now the full-time director of governor's Office of Policy and Management, told the paper that he and his wife decided to close the store because it had served its purpose of providing a livelihood for three generations of his family.

The Rosens told the paper that they might rent the building or sell it.

The paper did not report how many employees will lose their jobs in the closure.
