The Maine Real Estate & Development Association’s annual forecast conference this week is expected to draw close to 900 attendees to the event in Portland.
The all-day event will be Thursday, Feb. 27, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay.
Member showcases will open at 9 a.m., featuring 66 exhibitors, including real estate and construction professionals from bankers and architects to engineers, builders and brokers.
MEREDA board president Shannon Richards will open the event, and the featured speaker is Chris Mallett, chief administrative officer at Northeastern University’s Roux Institute.
“Chris leads teams that are building new models for talent and economic development by working collaboratively with industry, higher ed and the community,” Shelly Clark, MEREDA’s executive director, told Mainebiz.
“His work is pushing Maine’s potential to the next frontier, impacting the state’s economy and creating enormous opportunities across myriad industries,” she added. “He once told us in so many words that Northeastern will educate the students, and we (the businesses in Maine) just need to give them the jobs.”
Other speakers will share news of MEREDA’s legislative agenda and provide an economic overview.
The afternoon schedule includes an awards ceremony, luncheon and member showcase, followed by nine breakout sessions and a social hour to wrap up the day.
More information is available on MEREDA’s website, and Mainebiz editorial staffers will be on site covering the event for Friday’s Daily Report.
