At least a dozen Portland-area restaurants have closed within a 12-week period this year.
Now the Maine Real Estate & Development Association plans to host a panel that looks at the shakeout in the dining scene. The discussion will include the perspectives of restaurateurs who have closed establishments in recent weeks.
Presenters will be Josh Miranda, owner and founder of the Miranda Group; Jay Villani, chef/owner of Local 188 & Salvage BBQ, and co-owner of Black Cow Burgers & Fries; and Richard Pfeffer, co-owner of Gritty’s McDuff’s Brew Pub. The moderator will be Josh Soley, president of CORE.
The event will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, from 8:30-10 a.m. The venue will be the McGoldrick Career & Student Success Center, at 35 Bedford St. on the University of Southern Maine campus.
