An upcoming change in leadership at Mid Coast Health Services is coinciding with the organization's new 10-year plan.
Herbert Paris, who has led the Brunswick organization for 33 years, will retire this summer, according to a press release. Lois Napier Skillings, the organization's executive vice president, will begin as president and CEO on July 1. While head of Mid Coast Health, Paris oversaw the merger of the former Bath Memorial Hospital with Brunswick Regional Hospital to form Mid Coast Hospital, as well as the formation of CHANS Home Health Care and the 50-physician Mid Coast Medical Group. Paris plans to remain in the Brunswick area.
The organization also recently released a 10-year plan, "2020 Vision," that details the organization's focus on preventative health care and its goal to expand community wellness outreach. In announcing the new focus, Mid Coast Health said a changing focus is needed to better handle an aging population, higher health care costs and a more complicated health care system. The organization serves 18 communities in the Brunswick area.
