A $200,000 grant awarded to Midcoast Habitat for Humanity will allow the Rockport nonprofit to expand its weatherization and repair program.

TD Charitable Foundatino, the giving arm of TD Bank, awarded the grant through its annual Housing for Everyone program.

The Midcoast Habitat for Humanity program provides post-purchase support to help low- to moderate-income residents sustain their homeownership, according to a news release.

The program minimizes utility costs and addresses critical repairs, preventing displacement and helping build long-term financial stability. Repairs made by the program mitigate environmental hazards, upgrade accessibility and ensure safety.

Midcoast Habitat for Humanity was established in 1989 and to date has built 60 houses.

The grant was part of $7.2 million awarded by the foundation to 36 nonprofits across the bank's Maine-to-Florida footprint and in Michigan. Each $200,000 grant will support solutions for low- to moderate-income homeowners struggling to maintain homeownership.

TD selected recipients focused on programs such as those that provide post-purchase homeownership support, foreclosure counseling, financial assistance funds (when accompanied by post-purchase counseling), essential repairs, energy efficiency improvements, legal assistance and/or property tax relief programs.

"Amid rising housing costs, these organizations play a vital role in supporting homeowners in communities across TD's footprint to afford critical repairs, avoid foreclosure, correct tangled titles and so much more," said Paige Carlson-Heim, the foundation’s director.
