A Bremen publishing business that specializes in career development books has been sold for an undisclosed amount to McGraw-Hill.
The adult education division of the New York-based publishing house now owns Starting Out Inc., company founder Daniel Goldenson told the Portland Press Herald. It's the third publishing business Goldenson has founded and sold: in 1968, he sold Resource Publications Inc. for $1 million, and in 2001 sold eMed Guides Inc. to Thomson Healthcare, now a division of Thomson Reuters, for an undisclosed amount. Launched in 2007, Starting Out Inc. sells work force development books and career resources to high schools, post-secondary institutions and prisons in Maine and other states. The company had four full- and three part-time employees at the time of the sale, according to the paper.
Goldenson is already planning to launch a new company called Compliance Publications Inc. that will produce occupational health and safety manuals specific to various states.
