The Telford Group Inc. of Bangor, a national leader in airplane parts sales and maintenance, has been sold to a Milwaukee air cargo company.
ACC Holdings LLC, which provides cargo services for UPS and DHL, acquired the family-owned business on Aug. 29 for an undisclosed sum, according to the Bangor Daily News. Founded in Waterville in the 1980s, Telford employs about 85 people at a facility near the Bangor International Airport.
Telford President Bob Ziegelaar said the family's choice to sell was "purely a personal decision," and ACC Holdings has indicated that it wants the business to continue its operations as is, the paper reported. Ziegelaar said he plans to stay at Telford for at least the short term.
The Telford Group has more than 100 employees in Maine, including at a research and development facility at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone. It also has locations in Alabama, Texas and Maryland.
