Maine Medical Center in Portland has once again been named a Best Regional Hospital by U.S. News & World Report in its annual survey of hospitals across the country.
In addition to receiving a nod as one of the top hospitals in the region, MMC was recognized as one of only 63 out of more than 4,500 hospitals in the nation — and the only one in Maine — to be rated “high performing” across the board in nine procedures and conditions. Those conditions and procedures are:
Colon cancer surgery
Heart bypass surgery
Heart failure
Hip replacement
Knee replacement
Lung cancer surgery
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
“The continued recognition we have received from U.S. News demonstrates our employees’ commitment to quality care on behalf of our patients, and our progress towards helping Maine become the healthiest state in the nation,” MMC President and CEO Richard Petersen said in a statement about the recognition.
