Road King Technologies Inc., a Montreal-based company that develops fleet management systems for ready-mix concrete trucks, is opening its U.S. corporate headquarters in Oakland.
The Kennebec Journal reported that Road King Technologies is planning to lease its office at the taxpayer-supported FirstPark business park in Oakland, where the company hopes to employ between 15 and 20 workers by the end of 2015. The company has a contract with Winthrop-based Alternative Manufacturing Inc. to produce its circuit board systems.
The newspaper noted that Road King Technologies will be FirstPark’s first tenant since the park’s executive director, Brad Jackson, took over in March 2013. FirstPark was built 15 years ago through taxpayer support of 24 communities in Kennebec and Somerset counties, but it has yet to get close to its goal of attracting 3,000 jobs.
Jackson told the Kennebec Journal that he has met with approximately 30 companies since last fall, two-thirds of which could be potential tenants in the future.
