Moss to trim 50 jobs in Belfast
Fabric display manufacturer Moss Inc. will lay off 50 workers at its Belfast facility over the next two months as part of a restructuring plan.
The manufacturing jobs will be relocated to Moss' new 175,000-square-foot facility in Chicago, while about 35 engineering, technical support and customer service jobs will remain in Belfast, the Bangor Daily News reported.
The company said in a statement that the reorganization will improve efficiency, cost-competitiveness and customer care. City Manager Joseph Slocum told the paper that Moss' international clients have cut back on orders for promotional materials as a result of the weak global economy.
Formerly called Moss Tent, the company makes tensioned fabric structures, printed graphics and display hardware that companies use to display and market their products at trade shows and other events.
