MTI awards $2M to six companies

The Maine Technology Institute board of directors recently approved six development awards totaling more than $2 million for companies from Kittery to Madawaska.

The $2,000,819 in awards will be matched by $3.27 million in additional private and other investment, according to a press release from MTI. The companies receiving awards are:

  • Biovation LLC, Boothbay, $474,000 to design and produce an advanced wound care product;
  • Energy Circle, South Freeport, $274,758 for development of its marketing and web services software;
  • Hall Web Services, Scarborough, $484,016 for development of its search engine marketing software;
  • Mega Industries LLC, Gorham, $206,745 to design and commercialize a circulator produce line for use in the industrial microwave heating and scientific linear accelerator markets;
  • Twin Rivers Paper Co. LLC, Madawaska, $500,000 to develop a paper substitute to plastic-based food packaging materials;
  • VEG Energy Systems, Kittery, $61,300 to refine its variable force generator for small wind power machines.
