The Maine Technology Institute has approved three grants totaling $430,000 to support the marine and aquaculture, forest products and composite industries.
The three Cluster Enhancement Awards include $200,000 to the Gulf of Maine Research Institute in Portland, $200,000 to the Maine Pulp and Paper Association in Augusta and $30,000 to the Foster Regional Applied Technology Center in Farmington.
The three organizations raised a total of $1.4 million from outside sources to match the MTI awards. Read the MTI press release for more on what the three grants will support.
By the numbers
Six states raised a total of $38.6 million in the nation's first carbon auction, which took place last Thursday, under the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, according to results reported yesterday. A total of 12,565,387 carbon allowances sold at a clearing price of $3.07 per allowance. The states plan to invest the funds generated from the auctions in energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies, and programs to benefit energy consumers.
