Lori Michaud, a charter member of Hampden-based CUSO Home Lending who has served as interim CEO since September, has taken the helm as the organization’s president and CEO. She succeeds Russell Cole, who led the company for close to four years.
CUSO (Credit Union Service Organization) Home Lending is a licensed mortgage company owned by Maine and New Hampshire credit unions. It employs 42 people and services more than $2 billion in residential and commercial mortgages across both states.
Michaud has been with the company since it began originating and servicing mortgages in 1993, and was employed as an underwriting manager when the doors first opened.
“My goal is to build on our strong foundation as we navigate the mortgage market of today and the future," she said. "We are a solid, well-positioned company and I look forward to working with the employees and board to ensure our business reaches its full potential."
CUSO Board Chair Scott Chretien offered the board’s full support to Michaud, who has been part of the firm’s leadership team for 25 years.
“We are certain she will be an innovative leader for CUSO Home Lending, helping credit unions and their members throughout Maine and New Hampshire,” he said.
Michaud currently serves as board president for the Maine Association of Mortgage Professionals and president of the New England Credit Union Real Estate Network.
She is also a member of the steering committee for the Maine Sister Society of the Global Women’s Leadership Network and has been on the board for Greater Bangor Habitat for Humanity.
