After 35 years of offering “super values” on thousands of items and attracting a devoted following of locals and tourists, Big Al's, which was known for his kitschy and crazy commercials, closed in January 2022.

In March 2022, pitchman Al Cohen announced he was looking for a tenant. Cohen previously told Mainebiz he was looking forward to being a landlord and focusing on his smaller fireworks business.
