A new magazine covering the Lewiston-Auburn area is set to launch this fall, several months after Lewiston Auburn Magazine shut down when its publisher was arrested on charges of child pornography possession.
The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that the new magazine, entitled “Current,” will publish its first issue in October. Peter Flanders, a local developer, will serve as as publisher, and Ryan Rhoades, son of the Sun Journal Executive Editor Rex Rhoades, will serve as managing editor.
Flanders, who is operations manager for Lee Auto in Lewiston and runs a small real estate development firm, told the Lewiston newspaper that he has been working closely with past and current owners of Lewiston Auburn Magazine on launching the new magazine.
Lewiston Auburn Magazine published its last issue in February, a month before company Publisher and President Joshua Shea was arrested. The Lewiston-Auburn Film Festival, which he founded, had been shuttered as a result and led the local business community to launch an event in its place called the Emerge Film Festival.
