New Portland graduate school names board of advisors
More than 100 Maine business, legal and public service leaders have joined the newly established Advisory Board for a new graduate school being created in Portland by the University of Maine System.
The Maine Center for Graduate Professional Studies, led by former gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler, is looking into how the University of Maine School of Law, the University of Maine and University of Southern Maine’s master of business administration programs and potentially USM’s Muskie School of Public Service can better align their programs to meet students’ needs. The Harold Alfond Foundation has contributed $1.75 million to school’s planning process.
University of Maine System Chancellor James Page and Cutler, CEO of the Maine Center for Graduate Professional Studies, released the board list Thursday.
The board will be co-chaired by Hilary Rapkin, a senior vice president at WEX Inc.; Anne Lucey, a senior vice president at CBS Corp.; Miles Theeman, a Lubec native and formerly of Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems; and Ray Gauvin, founder of the Aroostook Aspirations Initiative.
The board also includes Chief Justice Leigh Saufley of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court and Maine State Chamber of Commerce President Dana Connors.
